Description
A Sales Engineer (SE) is responsible for providing pre-sales technical support as an integral part of the revenue generation and user community development activities for db4o in North America and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Support achievement of sales bookings objectives
  • Manage the technical element of sales cycles
    • Deliver technical presentations and demonstrations of db4o products/technologies
    • Reduce/eliminate technical obstacles to winning the technical recommendation
    • Ongoing technical qualification of opportunities
    • Technical and competitive positioning of proposed solution
    • Provide proof/reference points for the customer
  • Help drive technical evaluations with prospects, including implementation of benchmark programs, proofs of concept, and prototypes
    • Coordinate with development team and outside consultants to develop and deliver necessary technology components
  • Work with selected business partners to foster their adoption of db4o
  • Communicate with and contribute to the worldwide db4o community
  • Contribute to industry and marketing events as required, including speaking and demo opportunities
  • Travel to customer locations, industry/marketing events as required

Qualifications

  • B.A. / B.S. (technical degree) or equivalent work experience
  • 3-5 years track record in software solution pre-sales, with database experience highly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in Java and .NET programming
  • Good understanding of the application development tools and software infrastructure markets
  • Experience in embedded systems development (Java and/or .NET)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding relationship building skills
