Apress Releases "The Definitive Guide to db4o"

SAN MATEO, Calif., June 15, 2006 - db4objects, creator of the leading open source object database for Java and .NET, announced that publisher Apress has released the first book on db4o, "The Definitive Guide to db4o" by Dr. Stefan Edlich, Henrik Hörning, Reidar Hörning, and Jim Paterson (ISBN: 1590596560). The book can now be ordered on Amazon.com.

The Definitive Guide to db4o is the first book to cover db4o in detail. Readers will learn about all relevant topics, including installing and configuring db4o, querying and managing objects, performing transactions, and replicating data. To aid newcomers, early chapters cover object database fundamentals, as well as technical considerations and migration strategies. The book is complete with numerous C# and Java examples, so readers will be able to follow along regardless of their chosen language.

Three sample chapters are available for free download:

Author Jim Paterson is a lecturer in computing at Glasgow Caledonian University in the UK. Stefan Edlich has authored several books on Java technologies, including Ant, Tapestry, Jakarta Commons, and open source J2EE development. Henrik and Reidar Hörning are CTO and CEO of Biting Bit.

db4o Chief Software Architect Carl Rosenberger comments, "I am very excited about the first db4o book. Many of our 15,000 registered users will be thrilled to have this invaluable companion to db4o, making them more productive when using db4o's technology."

db4objects' partner Amazon.com announced that shipments of the book began on June 19. Any purchase made order through this link will contribute a small percentage toward ODBMS.ORG, the db4objects-sponsored, non-profit educational and research portal on object database technology.
